High school is an interesting time, and it can be extremely stressful. Between keeping up with school work and trying to maintain a social life, many students find it difficult to have fun and make memories during their high school career. That is why it is incredibly important to find ways to get involved, whether that be in sports, music, theater, or any of the many offerings presented to students. Being a part of these activities gives students the opportunity to create lasting memories and make new friends while simultaneously gaining skills such as teamwork, leadership, and cooperation that can benefit you after high school into the future.
There are a plethora of different clubs and organizations to join at Tremper, and getting involved in any of them will gain you great friends and memories that are likely to last. For example, joining a sport fosters a sense of community and belonging, and makes you part of a team of people who will always have your back. If you get involved in music groups such as the Madrigal Singers or the Golden Strings, you will meet new people with similar interests and create lasting friendships and connections through making music together. Getting involved in theater is also a great way to make some of the strongest connections and friendships, as you learn to trust and rely on others for the show to run smoothly. The people that you meet through these activities could very well become some of your closest friends, and those friendships are likely to last throughout the rest of your time in high school.
In addition to creating strong friendships, joining an organization can also allow you to learn important life skills, including teamwork, cooperation, and leadership. Being involved in sports allows you to form a sense of community with your teammates, and help develop teamwork and leadership skills. Music and theater provide the same skills, as many different students must work together so that the concert or show goes on without a hitch. The team that you are a part of when you join a music group, a show, or a sport is a tightly knit group in which you have a role to play. You must work together with your group to ensure that everything goes smoothly, which fosters teamwork and cooperation. One can also gain the skills of a good leader if they are the captain of the team, or the stage manager of the show, as they have to be able to properly communicate with every member of the group, while ensuring that they are doing their job to the fullest of their abilities.
There are many great reasons to get involved during high school, whether that be in music, theater, or sports. Being a part of a team creates lasting friendships as well as a sense of teamwork, cooperation, and leadership. The people that you meet are likely to become your closest friends, and working with them often fosters many skills that will become an important part of your future. All of this is what makes getting involved an essential part of your high school career.
