Tim Burton is an extremely talented producer and artist who has been producing films and short stories since he was a child. He is very well known for his melancholy tones and settings, and famous actor Johnny Depp stars in most of Tim Burton’s films. But, which movies are his best works, and what makes them so captivating?
The third best is Beetlejuice. Beetlejuice is about a couple who dies and is trapped in their home, forced to live with the unbearable new family that moves in. They try to contact a ”bioexorcist” to rid the house of the family, and end up coming in contact with Beetlejuice. The live action film uses different effects and gory costumes to give a scary feel, but the overall tone is comedic. Tim Burton’s exotic costumes and amusing look on the afterlife gives the movie an exotic feel, and it’s amazing acting really pulls it all together.
Next is Corpse Bride. Now, even though Corpse Bride is a claymation and children’s movie, its story is one of the saddest and grim of all of Burton’s films. It’s about a girl named Emily who runs away from her parents to elope with a man, but the man ends up murdering her for her money. Waiting in the afterlife for someone to set her free, Victor VanDort comes along and happens to accidentally propose to her. This leads her to come back from the dead, or rather bring Victor to the after life. The whole movie has a very sad tone as Emily has to deal with the fact that Victor doesn’t really want to marry her and it was on accident, and she has to relive her murder and heartbreak all over again. The movie ends with Emily leaving Victor to the woman he actually loves, and Emily transforms into a group of butterflies. The lugubrious theme and dismal visuals make for an amazing movie.
The best Tim Burton movie is Coraline. Coraline is about a young girl who moves into an apartment/palace, but the house has a sinister background behind it. In the house is a small door that leads to another world, a better version of the one she’s already in. Everything seems to be perfect in this world, her parents are better, the neighbors are better, she gets everything she wants. But everything starts to turn south when it starts to be revealed that the “other mother” is not who she seems. This colorful claymation puts a captivating and entertaining spin on the original book by Niel Gaiman.
Tim Burton is an incredibly talented artist and film producer, and his melancholic tones are loved by all. Out of all of his works, Corpse Bride, Coraline, and Beetlejuice are the best films. They are the best because even though they have gloom backstories, Burton is still able to relay his comedic touch.
