Following the death of Queen Elizabeth, Charles III is the new crowned King of England. Now formally known as King Charles III, he was proclaimed King on September 8th, 2022, in front of the ascension council, with 200 people in attendance, the same number as the 1952 proclamation. The King now bears new responsibilities and goals in front of him, he has many plans as King and wants to be a good representation of how Royalty should be looked at. Charles is officially the oldest member of royalty to ever be crowned in the history of the British hierarchy.
Charles III declared to uphold tradition set from the government since the 18th century and to preserve the Church of Scotland. Although Charles was proclaimed the King in front of the Ascension, he will be formally crowned king in roughly a year’s time.
Now that Charles is King, he is head of the Commonwealth. He is head of 56 countries, and 14 of them he himself is in charge of. This also includes the combined population of 2.5 billion people.
King Charles III has been crowned with one of the biggest responsibilities and most influential roles in the entire world. But he is the new face of the country and for most of his life has had observation of the Queen and royalty. He has the opportunity to right the wrongs set by Queen Elizabeth and Shine a new light upon the royal throne. Because the Queen, during her reign, broke many royal codes; her marriage with Philip had some controversy, conspiracy with Princess Diana. But Charles has a great opportunity to reconcile with all of the wrongdoing following a Queen’s longest reign in history.
Even so early King Charles is focusing on global issues, like climate change, that has even been affecting Britain with their brutal heatwave over this past summer. Charles may be a strong foundation of how younger kings and queens should approach such a powerful, influential role.
