Austin Richard Post, famously known as Post Malone, has got to be my favorite artist of all time. The obsession started in 2016 when I heard his song, Congratulations. This led me to listen to the entire Stoney album. I fell in love with his music instantly. His unique voice was different from anything I had heard before.
Post Malone released his debut album in 2016, named Stoney. He named it this because his friends call him stoney, due to the fact that he was always smoking, but he quit shortly after the release of this album. In 2018, Post Malone went on to create his next album, Beerbongs and Bentleys. This album was far more different than Stoney. There were more features, as Post Malone was building more of a following and moving up in the charts. This album had a party vibe and gave off good vibes.
After two more years, in 2020 Post Malone dropped Hollywood’s Bleeding. This album was the most unexpected thing Post Malone could have done. He had a whole new sound, in a good way though. He had really grown as an artist during the drop of this album. Only making me become an even bigger fan of his. Covid hit right after the release of this album. I fell in love with this album. There wasn’t a single bad song. After two years of not hearing anything new from Post Malone, he dropped a single, and fans went crazy for it. The song was called One Right Now, featuring The Weekend. Two months later he dropped a brand new album, Twelve Carat Toothache. This album represented a new side of Post Malone that his fans haven’t seen before. It was definitely one of his best albums yet. He sang about personal topics, but yet made them in a way that anyone could relate to them.
Post Malone has came a long way with his music, from singing about the clichés like women and drugs, Beerbongs and Bentleys and Hollywood’s Bleeding, to creating an album, Twelve Carat Toothache, where he actually gets personal and tell a story through each song about how he overcame a strong drug addiction. With each album he got better. With each song he got more personal. I don’t think there is a single song by Post Malone that isn’t good in at least one way. Whether it’s the lyrics or the music behind it all, it’s all good, and it all creates an emotion while listening. One of Post Malone’s best songs is Wasting Angels. In this song he sings about how his life has changed since the fame, and how he knows he’s messed up. The song is all around good, it sends a beautiful message, the instrumental is fantastic, and it’s consistent the whole way through.
