Lionel Messi is the best soccer player of all time. Messi has played professional soccer for twenty years. He holds multiple records. He has played with some of the best teams of all time. These are some reasons why Messi is the greatest soccer player of all time. 

To begin with, Messi holds seventeen records. Some of these records are 7 Ballon d’Ors (Best Soccer player in the World Award), most La Liga goals ever with 474 goals, most goals in a calendar year with 91, and Messi holds the record for the most goals and assists combined ever in history with 1,129. He has a lot more records but these are the main records. Messi is also considered the best player ever by a lot of former teammates and opponents. One of them is another all time great Ronaldinho, he said “Messi is the greatest player the sport has to offer: He is the best in the world, and there’s nothing more to be said.” This all showcases why Lionel Messi is the best soccer player of all time. 

Secondly, Messi has played for some of the best teams of all time. Many people consider the 2009 Barcelona team to be one of the best teams of all time. Messi was a key contributor to the team that year with scoring twenty three goals and having eleven assists. Another all time great team Messi played on is the 2010/2011 Barcelona team. Messi scored 31 goals and 19 assists this season. When Messi left Barcelona in 2021 Barcelona struggled the find success. They have still yet to qualify for the round of 16 in the champions league since Messi left. This highlights why Messi is the greatest player of all time.

In conclusion, Lionel Messi is the greatest player of all time because of his accomplishments individually as well as his accomplishments with his teams. Messi is the most naturally skilled soccer player the world has ever seen. This is again shown by Messi’s great success.
