Duke University is the best basketball school in the nation. Duke’s legendary coach, Coach K, just retired for this upcoming season, so there are a lot of doubters on whether or not new head coach Jon Sheyer will be able to continue Duke’s success.

First, Duke is tied for fourth with the most national championships ever, but Duke does have the most National championships since 1985. They are also 4th all time in wins. Duke is second all time in the amount of time they have spent being ranked number one in the nation. Coach K who was Duke’s head coach before he just retired has the most wins ever by a head coach. Duke also has 17 Final Four appearances which is third all time. This shows that Duke basketball has been dominant.

Secondly, Duke will continue to win National Championships and be the best program of all time. Duke basketball has continued to bring in the best recruiting classes. This upcoming season Duke has brought in a historic recruiting class. By doing this many people are starting to think Duke is going to continue their legendary success even without Coach K, but there still is doubt. One person said Duke’s Coach would be impossible to replace is Duke’s Athletic Director Kevin White. He said, “Cutting to the chase, Mike Krzyzewski is simply impossible to replace,” this highlights just how good and important Coach K was to Duke, but White also said, “That said, Jon Scheyer is without a doubt the absolute perfect leader to assume this ‘high wire’ challenge.” This shows that Sheyer will be able to continue the success. 

Overall, Duke basketball is the best basketball program of all time and will continue to be the best basketball program of all time. This is due to Duke’s ability to recruit players and always find a way for them to reach their full potential.
